We are excited to announce our 2025 Summer Intensives and Workshop offerings at the Institute of Contemporary Dance. Auditions are required for all Intensives and the HC2 2025-2026 season. Pre-registration is recommended but not required for in person auditions. If you can not make any of the scheduled auditions, please see below for video auditions requirements. Only one audition is required. Live virtual option is also available. Private Auditions are available upon request and availability by emailing: info@icdhouston.com

Audition Dress Code:

We encourage movers to follow the gender they identify with. Please follow dress codes accordingly. Gender identity can include an expression of female identified, male identified, trans, non-binary, queer. Any questions please let us know.

  • (Female Identified) Any color leotard with pink/ flesh tone footed tights and matching ballet shoes. Skirts are allowed to be worn for ballet and leggings or shorts are allowed to be worn for Jazz/contemporary. No baggy clothing. Jazz shoes are encouraged but not required. Hair must be pulled back in a bun or a ponytail if it’s long enough. 

  • (Male Identified) Tight fitting pants or tights and a tight fitting T-shirt or tank top. Hair must be pulled back if it’s long enough. Ballet shoes are required and Jazz shoes are encouraged but not required.  No baggy clothing.

2025 VIDEO Audition REQUIREMENTS

Video Audition Requirements

For prospective Summer Intensive students who cannot audition in Houston or for those unable to make a live audition date, a video audition is accepted until May 31st, 2025. The video needs to be in a dance studio or large space and auditioners need to be wearing clothes that allow instructors to see clean lines and your facility. The video should include the following items.

The video should include the following items:

1. Dancers name and age
2. Any 2 Ballet barre exercises (both sides)
3. Any 2 Ballet exercises center (both sides)
4. 1 min solo with floorwork, pirouettes, leaps/jumps and
movement that shows clear technique within modern and contemporary. 

Please pay the $35 video audition fee below,  fill out this form and submit a video audition by posting to a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo. Please email the link to info@icdhouston.com Your video will not be reviewed until the audition fee is paid. Acceptance will be given 3-4 weeks after submitting and payment goes through.

BEYOND THE LENS: DANCE FOR CONNECTION W/ CAT COGLIANDRO
June 9-13th, 2025 (13+)

The Institute of Contemporary Dance Houston presents for the first year, beyond the lens: dance for connection with Cat Cogliandro. In this five day workshop, dancers will have the opportunity to work with Cat in class and then learn material to create a short film to premier at the HC2 Concert on June 21st, 2025 and the Miller Outdoor Theatre in late June. This workshop will consist of one technique class a day and then the afternoon creating a new work for film. Filming days are included in the time. Auditions are required to attend this workshop.

Houston Contemporary Workshop
June 23rd-28th, 2025 (15+)

The Institute of Contemporary Dance Houston presents the Houston Contemporary Dance Company in a six day workshop geared toward the pre-professional and professional level dancers (Ages 15+) that are interested in a full choreographic experience while learning more about Houston Contemporary Dance Company.  This workshop will consist of two technique classes a day and then the afternoon working on creating a new choreographic work from our 2 Guest Artists Chris Bloom and Tamisha Guy. Attendees conclude in a special performance on Saturday June 28th, 2025 at the Institute of Contemporary Dance. Acceptance into the workshop is by audition only with limited in studio spots. If you cannot audition in person or virtually, please submit a video audition. ( See information for auditions and video auditions here).

CHRIS BLOOM,  is from Frederick County, VA where he began dancing at the Blue Ridge Studio for the Performing Arts & the Vostrikov Academy of Ballet at the ages of 12 & 15 respectively. As a teenager, he trained at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago & the Orlando Ballet School. Chris graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Ailey/Fordham B. F. A. Program & has performed with Parsons Dance, The Dash Ensemble, The Black Iris Project, 360° Dance Theater, Lydia Johnson Dance, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, San Francisco Dance Works & PARA.MAR Dance Theater (where he is a founding member). Chris joined Ballet Hispanico in 2013 originating roles in new works by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Fernando Melo, Michelle Manzanales, Miguel Mancillas, Edgar Zendejas, Andrea Miller, Claudia Schreier, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Edwaard Liang & Eduardo Vilaro. In addition he has performed in Nacho Duato’s Jardi Tancat, William Forsythe’s New Sleep, Pedro Ruiz’s Club Havana, Tania Perez Salas’s 3. Catorce Dieciséis, Andrea Miller’s Naci, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Mad’moiselle, as Don José in Gustavo Ramirez Sansano’s CARMEN.maquia & as Juan Perón in Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Doña Perón, both filmed & aired on PBS. Chris was nominated for the Clive Barnes Award & currently works as a freelance dancer & choreographer while staging the works of Stephanie Martinez & Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.

TAMISHA GUY, is a native of Trinidad and Tobago, studied at Ballet Tech under Eliot Feld, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, and SUNY Purchase. She joined the Martha Graham Dance Company 2013. Awards include the 2016 Princess Grace Award and 2022 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Dance. She was named one of Dance Magazine’s 2016 “Top 25 to Watch” and Dance Europe’s 2017 “Best Dancers of the Year.” Guy currently dances with A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, is a Lecturer in Dance at Barnard College, and is the Founder of HUETAPE, a skin-toned kinesiology tape brand celebrating the unique needs of melanated individuals.

FOCUS: An Institute
Intensive (Ages 11-18)

FOCUS Ballet July 7th-11th, 2025

FOCUS Contemporary July 21st-25th, 2025

FOCUS is an Institute intensive based in both technique and artistry highlighting a different style of dance each week. Take all four weeks of this program to develop into a more versatile dancer or spruce up on one particular style with our single week options. Each week will feature two Professional Guest Teachers ( See below) in that particular style. Dancers will also take other core technique classes with the prestigious Institute of Contemporary Dance faculty. On the first day of the program, all students will take a placement class which will determine which level they will be dancing in throughout the week. These two levels are largely based on the style of dance the week is focused on, in addition to the movers experience, natural facility, and technique. Dancers will be given the opportunity to work closely with the Guest Faculty in technique classes, lectures and a Q&A.

FOCUS: Dance CAMP (AGES 7-13)

FOCUS Camp is modeled after our FOCUS intensives with the same great training in a shorter day! Dancers will get to take classes in styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop and more! No Audition is required for this Camp. Movers should provide their own lunch.  Dancers will be required to wear leotards and tights or tank tops and leggings. Dancers will need ballet shoes, jazz shoes and sneakers for the week. Yoga mats are optional.

Middle School Dance Prep
Workshop (AGES 10-13)
July 14TH-18TH

Our five day Middle School Workshop helps movers learn more about training for Middle school dance teams and beyond.  No Audition is required for this Camp. Movers will have the opportunity to take multiple classes from multiple instructors as well as build a performance piece to be shown at the end of the week. Movers will take classes in styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. The week will conclude in a small studio showing of the performance piece. No Audition is required for this camp. Movers should provide their own lunch.  Dancers will be required to wear leotards and tights or tank tops and leggings. Dancers will need ballet shoes, jazz shoes and sneakers for the week. Dancers will be asked to wear all black dancewear for the showing at the end of the week. No dance costumes.

IMAGINE! A Children’s movement and Arts Camp for Children ages 3-6*

June 16-20th-Ocean Fun
July 7-11th-Wilderness

The Institute of Contemporary Dance is excited to host our children's movement and arts camp for young creative thinkers ages 3-6 years old. ( *As of January 1st, 2025 and all attendees must be Potty Trained.) Each week has a fun and creative theme and will include a daily movement class, crafts, snack time, activity and lots of creative imaginative fun! Campers are to wear comfortable clothes to move in and water bottles. We will have options for snacks and please provide your own snack if there are allergies. Register now!

There are no classes June 30th- July 5th week due to the Holiday. Please note that we require 3 movers to be registered for the class for it to be held. REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS POLICY 

Payments for the first session are charged on June 1st, 2025.

If your dancer is participating in both sessions, you will be charged on June 1st, 2025 for both sessions.

If classes need to be canceled, you must do so prior to payments being charged. No refunds are given once payments are processed.

PATH SUMMER CLASSES 2025

Our Summer Classes run from June 2nd-August 16th, 2025. Please read through our policies prior to registering.

Two options for tuition for the Summer.

Option One- Purchase monthly class packages based on how many classes you sign up for. Each card will be charged on the first of the month. August will be half the charge as there are only two weeks of classes in August.

Non- Institute Dancers

Current PATH Dancers:

Option Two - Pay as you go. $20 drop in classes or membership/class packages.

For Class packages, classes will roll over. If classes need to be canceled you can do so with written notice up to 24 hours prior to the first of the month with no charge. No refunds are given after charges have been made.
